Past Continuous Tense

Past Continuous Tense : tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan

kejadian yang sedang terjadi pada waktu lampau. contoh kalimat :

"Saya sedang belajar, saat Dia datang tadi malam". Dalam kalimat tersebut, 

saya menjelaskan, bahwa saya sedang melakukan pekerjaan belajar, 

tetapi tadi malam (lampau)

Past Continuous Tense

(-)	Subject + to be (was,were)+ not + Verbing
(?)	To be (was,were) +Subject + Verbing

Penggunaan Subject and To be:

You	Are(were)
They	Are(were)

It	Is(was)

Contoh kalimat positif  Past Continuous Tense

• They were doing the exam yesterday
• We were studying English when My Father came(v2)
• I was making a delicious cake last night
• He was sleeping when i called her
• She was cooking in the kitchen this morning

ket : Untuk to be setelah subject menggunakan to be lampau yaitu was,were 

sudah tertera di atas, nah, keterangan waktu tidak harus yesterday,last night,dll. 

Tetapi bisa juga dengan menekankan suatu kejadian yang terjadi bersamaan 

pada waktu itu juga, tetapi lampau, seperti kalimat di atas "when i called her"

kalimat itu jenis past tense otomatiiis, itu menekankan kejadian pada saat lampau.

• They were not doing the exam yesterday
• We were not studying English when My Father came(v2)
• I was not making a delicious cake last night
• He was not sleeping when i called her
• She was not cooking in the kitchen this morning

Contoh kalimat tanya  Past Continuous Tense

• Were They doing the exam yesterday ?
• answer : Yes They were/ No They were not
• Were We studying English when My Father came(v2) ?
• answer : Yes We were/ No We were not
• Was I making a delicious cake last night ?
• answer : Yes You were/ No You were not
• Was He sleeping when i called her ?
• answer : Yes He was/ No He was not
• Was She cooking in the kitchen this morning ?
• answer : Yes She was/ No She was not

ket : Pada kalimat tanya, to be diletakkan di awal kalimat, dan tetap 

menggunakan verbing setelah subject.
